Helping to simplify wiring and assembly, RS Components has extended its automation and control portfolio with ultra-compact mini PLCs that require no peripheral components for autonomous operation.
The Barth Elektronik STG-500 PLCs provide 10 I/Os and 19 I/Os respectively, comprising digital, analogue and PWM channels. A temperature sensor is also built in. The STG-500 measures 40mm x 40mm x 22mm and has a universal aluminium mounting plate, while the STG-600 has an ultra-flat 10mm-high housing and maximum dimensions of 93mm x 45mm x 15mm.
Both models have very low current consumption and a wide operating voltage range of 7V to 32V, making them ideal for use in 12V or 24V battery-powered applications. Built-in protection for all I/Os, high shock and vibration resistance, and IP20 sealing, ensure reliability in harsh environments.
In addition, graphical programming capability makes these mini PLCs convenient and easy to use. The downloadable miCon-L software suite meets the standards of the latest graphical programming languages, and also integrates simulation and test capabilities. The flexible programming option offers a variety of possibilities in industrial, automotive and maritime applications, says the company.
