Latest from KOE Europe is a new enhanced 7-inch Rugged+ TFT display module,
the TX18D205VM0BAA. It features the latest generation in-plane (IPS)
switching technology, WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resolution and a 15:9 wide
aspect ratio, improved optical performance and an extended operating
temperature range.
For operation in extreme temperature environments the operating temperature
range has been extended to -40C to +85C (an increase over the previously
specified -30C to +80C). The storage temperature range is also increased to
-40C to +90C. Optical, mechanical and environmental performance
characteristics have also been improved.
The TFT is designed for use in high reliability industrial, medical, marine,
automotive and aerospace applications where consistent and guaranteed
operation under extreme temperature, mechanical shock and vibration are a
necessity.
For dedicated human-machine interface applications, the latest IPS display
technology delivers exceptional colour saturation and stability, high
contrast and deep black levels with 170 degree wide viewing angles (vertical
and horizontal). The 7-inch display features a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and
a white LED backlight with a brightness of 800cd/m² and a specified 70K hour
half-brightness lifetime. These features ensure that display images are
exceptionally bright, colourful and concise, says the company.
Mark Stephenson, technical marketing manager, KOE Europe, said: "The new
7.0-inch display employs the most recent version of IPS technology, which
delivers strong optical performance with wide viewing angles and highly
consistent colour reproduction. Rugged+ displays have been developed to have
robust mechanical, electrical and environmental characteristics that are
highly resistant to shock, vibration, electro-static discharge and
temperature variation. Additionally, we are confident that the new enhanced
Rugged+ displays will be commercially competitive in an aggressive
marketplace."
A 40-pin CMOS interface supports 6-bit RGB data which enables a colour
palette of up to 262k colours. The 7.0-inch display module has mechanical
outline dimensions of 167.7mm (w) x 109.45mm (h) x 9.0mm (d) and an active
LCD area of 152.4mm (w) x 91.44 mm (h). Also introduced, is the 7-inch
TX18D206VM0BAA display module which features the same mechanical and optical
specification but implements a 20-pin LVDS interface.
