Surface-mount GaN low-noise amplifier offers 20GHz bandwidth

25-09-2015 | RFMW | Design & Manufacture

Latest from RFMW is the Qorvo TGA2227, a 2-22GHz low-noise amplifier (LNA) fabricated on Qorvo’s TQGaN15 GaN on SiC process. The GaN on SiC technology offers high input power survivability of 40dBm, potentially eliminating the need for a power limiter in broadband communications, EW, instrumentation or Radar applications. The TGA2227 can also be used as a driver with >15dB of small signal gain or a general amplifier with >20dBm P1dB. With a nominal drain voltage of 8V, the TGA2227 can be biased over a wide range of voltages with little impact on noise figure and gain; thus allowing the user to minimize power dissipation depending on system RF power and linearity requirements. Mid-band noise figure is 2dB and Qorvo offers this LNA in a 4mm x 4mm, surface mount package as the TGA2227-SM.
