Designed to easily add Bluetooth Low Energy to designs for control and
sensor applications, Microchip's RN4677 Dual-Mode Bluetooth module is now
available from Mouser stock.
The RN4677 maintains support for legacy Bluetooth Classic-only devices and
combines Bluetooth classic (2.1+EDR) operation with Bluetooth 4.0 Low
Energy. The module includes an easy-to-use ASCII command interface used in
Microchip's popular RN41/RN42 Bluetooth Classic modules. The RN4677 supports
SPP Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy serial data. The RN4677 is a
Bluetooth SIG-certified Bluetooth Version 4.0 (BR/EDR/LE) module. It
delivers local connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT) and bridges to
smartphones and tablets for convenient data transfer, control, and access to
cloud applications.
The module includes the Bluetooth stack onboard, integrated antenna, and
worldwide radio certifications in a compact surface mount package,
12x22x1.9mm. It supports GAP, SDP, SPP, and GATT profiles. Data is
transferred over the Bluetooth link by sending/receiving data via the UART
interface, making it easy to integrate with any processor or microcontroller
with a UART interface.
Also available - the Microchip RN4677 PICtail/PICtail Plus Daughter Board is
a Bluetooth Dual-Mode demonstration board using the Microchip RN4677
Bluetooth Dual-Mode OEM module. The RN4677 complies with Bluetooth Core
Specification 4.0 and is interfaced using a simple command interface over
the UART. The board enables evaluation of the RN4677 and development of
Bluetooth low Energy applications in two different ways, out of the box or
as a PICtail/PICtail Plus.
