High-frequency 600mA DC-DC buck converter assures high efficiency

Aimed at mobile phones, wearable devices and similar battery-powered applications, the new AP3405 DC-DC buck converter from Diodes Incorporated delivers high efficiency under light and heavy loads. Operating with a fixed switching frequency of 2MHz reduces the size of external components while a small U-DFN2020-8 package also saves board area. The AP3405 current mode, PWM synchronous, step-down converter operates with a 2.3V to 5.5V VIN range and supplies an output from 0.7V to 5.5V, accurate to ±1.5%, up to 600mA. A low 32uA quiescent current draw helps extend battery life and internal MOSFETs with low RDS(ON) enable high efficiency under all load conditions. Comprehensive protection features built into the AP3405 protect both the end system and the device itself. These include hiccup mode short-circuit protection (SCP), under-voltage lock-out (UVLO), over-temperature protection (OTP) and over-current protection (OCP).
