Vishay's new 196HVC ENYCAP Series of hybrid energy storage capacitors are
now available from TTIEurope. The devices offer electronics designers the
best energy / volume ratings currently available on the market, as well as
enhanced charge and discharge performance for energy harvesting and power
line backup applications, says the company.
The ENYCAP Series of polarized storage capacitors offers high capacity and
high energy density and is an alternative product to rechargeable backup
batteries. The capacitors have a very long self-discharge period of several
months and due to specialised proprietary technology, they require no cell
balancing. The ENYCAP Series provides soft charging of <1A and low leakage
current after 24 hours (IL) from 0.03mA to 0.24mA.
For design flexibility, the 196HVC ENYCAP Series is available in various
configurations, including surface-mount flat, stacked through-hole, and lay
flat with wire and connectors. Voltage ratings are also flexible with 1.4V
(single cell) versions and 2.8V, 4.2V, 5.6V, 7V and 8.4V multiple cell
models. The low profile (2.5mm) design of these new Vishay hybrid energy
storage capacitors fits compact and portable designs. Suitable applications
include power backup for memory controllers, flash backup, RAID systems,
SRAM, DRAM; power failure and write cache protection for enterprise SSD and
HDD; backup power for industrial PCs and controls; storage devices for
energy harvesting; emergency light and micro UPS power sources; and burst
power support for flash lights and wireless transmitters, says the company.
