Cypress has added an interface to its industry-leading nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) portfolio and is available from Digi-Key. The 1MB quad SPI nvSRAM meets the data throughput performance of 45ns, high-speed parallel NVRAM with the reduced pin count of a 16-pin SOIC package and 24-ball BGA package. It is the ideal solution for write journaling in RAID storage applications data logging in industrial automation applications, as well as storing critical configuration data in computing and networking applications.
These solutions reliably store data on power loss without the use of batteries, reducing system cost and maintaining RoHS compliance. The 1MB quad SPI nvSRAM is available with an optional integrated real time clock (RTC) and an extended industrial temperature grade of -40C to 105C. Their quad SPI nvSRAM products utilize high-speed, multiple input/output SPI-compatible bus interfaces. They feature execute-in-place (XIP) functionality and advanced write protection mechanisms, along with dual and quad instructions to enable an aggregate bandwidth of 54MB/s for read and write operations. These products also provide infinite read/write endurance, one million store cycles on power loss, high-speed reads and writes, nonvolatile data retention and an optional real time clock (RTC). A small external Vcap capacitor is required to complete nonvolatile data transfer upon power loss.
