Phase control thyristor lowers costs and saves space in medium-power switching applications

Vishay introduces a new 50A, 1200V phase control thyristor in the new long leads TO-247 package. The thyristor provides a new medium-power option in the 3-lead through-hole package for power switching applications. Glass passivation technology provides reliable operation to a junction temperature of +150C. Long leads provide flexibility in PCB mounting. High dv/dt provides increased EMI immunity. Typical applications include Line rectification, soft start motor control, temperature control in UPS units, welding equipment, power converters, industrial battery chargers and solid-state relays.
