Fully encapsulated AC/DC power modules for medical applications

Powersolve’s TMM Series of fully encapsulated 24W to 60W AC/DC power supply modules have been designed specifically for medical applications although their EMI/EMC characteristics and safety approval package combine to make the modules ideal for demanding applications in industrial and transportation systems. Providing between 20W and 60W, the TMM AC/DC power modules feature a reinforced/double input/output isolation system in accordance with the latest medical safety standards 60601-3 3rd edition for 2 x MOPP (Means Of Patient Protection). Models are available for chassis and PCB mounting. The high efficiency levels make the units suitable for an operating temperature range of –40C to +65C while with some models it goes up to 80C with 50% load derating. Protection against over-temperature overload and short-circuit is standard. Using the 60W unit as an example, nominal input voltage can be 85VAC to 240VAC or 120VDC to 370VDC and output voltages between 5.1 and 48VDC depending on the model. With a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5W, the unit complies with the recently introduced ErP directive.
