World’s-first 100V / 10uF monolithic ceramic capacitor

Murata has unveiled what it believes to be a world’s first with the launch of a 1210(EIA) size, 3.2mm x 2.5mm 100VDC, 10uF monolithic ceramic capacitor (MLCC) breaking the previous MLCC design barrier of 4.7uF. With a 'guaranteed' operating temperature up to 125C, the GRM Series GRM32EC72A106KE05 capacitor has X7S characteristics and a K (+/- 10 %) tolerance. It is particularly suitable for use in the 48VDC power supply circuits of network equipment and base stations. In the past the required capacitance for these applications has typically been achieved by using two or more 2.2uF and 4.7uF capacitors. In today’s space constrained designs, the need to reduce the number of capacitors is higher as is the need for capacitors rated at 100VDC, says the company.
