Ultra-low-capacitance ESD protection diode saves board space

13-07-2016 | Vishay | Design & Manufacture

Vishay has released a new bidirectional symmetrical (BiSy) 2-line ESD protection diode in the ultra-compact LLP1006-3L package for portable electronics. Saving space over solutions in the SOT23 package, the VBUS05M2-HT1 offers ultra-low capacitance and leakage current for the protection of high-speed data lines against transient voltage signals. The device combines a low height of <0.4mm with low load capacitance of 0.35pF. Featuring a ‘flow through’ design, the VBUS05M2-HT1 is optimised for the protection of high-speed data lines including HDMI, DisplayPort, eSATA, USB 3.0, 1394 / FireWire, and Thunderbolt in smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and wearable devices. The protection diode features a low maximum leakage current of <0.1µA at the working voltage of 5.5V, a breakdown voltage of 8.5V typical at 1mA, and a maximum clamping voltage of 18V at 3.6A. The device provides transient protection for data lines as per IEC 61000 4 2 at ±20kV (air and contact discharge). The device offers a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 1 in accordance with J-STD-020 and a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating, and it supports reflow soldering to +260C for 10s. Soldering can be checked by a standard vision inspection, without the need for an X-ray. The protection diode is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
