Solution for users of linear regulators with efficiency and board space concerns

The non-isolated P78A-1000 DC-DC converter series, from Digi-Key, is the newest addition to CUI’s line-up of DC switching regulators. Delivering a power density of 15W/cm3 and up to 1A of current output, the series offers a low-profile footprint typically reserved for regulators with half of the rated output. The ultra-compact series measures just 11.6mm x 8.5mm x 10.4mm and carries a wide input voltage range from 7VDC to 28VDC. Unlike linear regulators, the series’ high typical efficiency of 91% eliminates the need for a heat sink. Typical applications are for portable devices, battery-fed equipment and embedded designs.
