FDK’s digital Tomodachi series of non-isolated DC-DC power modules, stocked by Digi-Key, deliver exceptional electrical and thermal performance in DOSA-based footprints for point-of-load converters. Operating from a 4.5VDC to 14.4VDC input, these are the power modules of choice for intermediate bus architecture and distributed power architecture applications that require high efficiency, tight regulation, and high reliability in elevated temperature environments with low airflow. The PMBus interface supports a range of commands to both control and monitor the module. The module also includes the tunable loop feature that allows the user to optimise the dynamic response of the module to match the load with reduced amount of output capacitance, leading to savings on cost and PWB area.
The power module delivers 40A of output current at a tightly regulated, programmable output voltage of 0.6VDC to 2VDC and has a PMBus control output voltage of 0.45VDC to 2VDC. The thermal performance of the device is excellent with little derating needed up to 85C under natural convection.
