Now available from Digi-Key, Rigado’s R41Z module is a highly integrated, ultra-low-power module that enables Thread with IEEE 802.15.4 and BLE RF connectivity for portable, extremely low-power embedded systems. The module is based on the Kinetis KW41Z SoC from NXP Semiconductors, with an ARM Cortex-M0+ CPU, integrated 2.4 GHz transceiver, and an integrated antenna. The module provides a complete RF solution with no additional RF design, allowing faster time-to-market and reduced development costs. The module provides full use of the KW41Z’s capabilities and peripherals and is an ideal solution for designs that require concurrent communication on an 802.15.4 based network, such as Thread and BLE networks. This multi-mode capability enables participation in a mesh network for local and remote control/monitoring and direct communication using BLE via a mobile device. With an internal DC-DC converter and a wide supply voltage range of 0.9V to 4.2V, the module can be directly powered by sources ranging from single alkaline cells to lithium polymer batteries.
