ROHM has announced the development of high voltage Zener diodes optimized for protection and constant current applications in a variety of electronic circuits. The UDZLV and KDZLV series are comprised of 12 models in Zener voltages ranging from 51V to 150V. They are also AEC-Q101 compliant and provide superior surge resistance for greater reliability, making them suitable not only for automotive ECUs, but industrial and consumer applications as well.
The diodes are used in a wide variety of applications, primarily to maintain a constant voltage even when abnormally large currents temporarily flow through the circuit in order to prevent damage to electronic equipment. The demand for Zener diodes is expected to only grow as the trend in the automotive and industrial industries continues towards greater computerization.
Until now, the company has offered a popular lineup of low-voltage (2V to 47V) Zener diodes designed for power supplies in smartphones and portable devices. However, with the increased focus on the automotive and industrial sectors in recent years comes a need to strengthen our portfolio of power products, including resistors, transistors and diodes.
In response, the company have expanded their lineup of UDZV diodes to include the high-voltage UDZLV series, which features a rated power of 0.2W in a compact 2.5mm x 1.2mm sized package, making it suitable for consumer electronics as well as automotive ECUs, MFPs, and inkjet printers. They have also developed the KDZLV series of high voltage 1.0W rated Zener diodes for automotive and industrial applications, available in a 3.5mm x 1.6mm form factor.
