New LEDs for horticulture applications

The SunPlus series of LEDs from Lumileds are for horticulture applications. They are available now from RS Components. They emit the precise wavelengths required to improve crop growth. The chosen wavelengths reflect the wavelengths at which plants absorb light. Various combinations of colours are used at different stages of plant growth, for example seedlings, flowers and harvest. The LEDs are ideal for use in a range of applications such as greenhouses, home farming and urban farming. Horticultural LEDs are becoming popular, offering higher profitability for growers and improved food for customers. The Sunplus 35 LEDs come in a package with a standard 3.5mm x 3.5mm footprint. They are ideal for linear applications, with great uniformity at short distances.
