New connectors make wire-to-wire and board signal configurations easy and cost efficient

RS Components has introduced the Milli-Grid connector range from leading connector brand Molex. The high-quality single-row connectors are ideal for a wide variety of applications in data communications, including high-end computing servers and PCs, telecommunications and networking infrastructure equipment. They are also suitable for use in consumer and home appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines, among others. The range of single-row connectors makes wire-to-wire and wire-to-board signal configurations exceptionally easy and cost efficient. They include early entry system crimp terminals that provide a longer pin wipe to enable more reliable contact. In addition, the centre polarization key is integral to preventing mis-mating. The range’s positive locking capability is ensured using locking ramps that provide a strong retention force to header and locking windows to provide firm locking to the receptacle. The shrouded single-row design also facilitates greater terminal protection and space saving; and the device’s marking feature provides marking for first circuit location. The connectors are available with a number of different options, including: different solder-tail lengths of 2.6mm, 3.6mm and 4.6mm, which enables the use of PCBs with different thicknesses for through-hole-style applications; and an array of gold and tin plating, which should be of significant interest to engineers working to meet requirements for high performance or cost efficiency.
