Dual high speed USB capable of being configured in variety of interfaces

The FT2232H from FTDI is their fifth generation of USB devices. It is available now from RS Components. The device is a USB 2.0 High Speed (480Mb/s) to UART/FIFO IC. It has the capability of being configured in a variety of industry standard serial or parallel interfaces. The device has many advanced features, including single chip USB to dual serial / parallel ports with a variety of configurations. The entire USB protocol is handled on the chip. No USB specific firmware programming is required. It is USB 2.0 High Speed (480Mbits/second) and Full Speed (12Mbits/Second) compatible. The dual multi-protocol synchronous serial engine (MPSSE) simplifies the synchronous serial protocol (USB to JTAG, I2C, SPI or bit-bang) design. There are dual independent UART or FIFO or MPSSE ports and independent baud rate generators.
