Available now from RS Components, the Microchip Explorer 16/32 development kit is a versatile full-featured prototyping platform for 16-bit and 32-bit PIC microcontrollers and dsPIC digital signal controllers. The Explorer 16/32 is a foundation upon which countless applications can be explored.
With the kit, MCUs and DSCs can be easily interchanged through the use of the PIMs. The board ships with a 16-bit PIC24FJ1024GB610 PIM to get started with; other PIMs that feature other device families are readily available.
Adding different functionalities and technologies to the kit is simple. The board can be tailored with the addition of PICtail Plus Daughter boards, MikroElektronika Click Boards and Digilent Pmods Boards. In addition, there are expansion headers which can be customised as needed.
Several debug and programming solutions are supported including the PICkit 3, ICD 3 and MPLAB® REAL ICE In-Circuit Emulator.
Microchip’s free to download MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is fully compatible with the Explorer 16/32. Included within MPLAB X is the MPLAB Code Configurator, a graphical programming environment that streamlines generation of C code to mouse clicks.
