USB 3.1 Type C connectors deliver 100W power in a reversible form factor

Amphenol’s new ICC USB 3.1 Type C connectors are now stocked by TTI Europe. In a tiny space-saving form factor, these new connectors are available in Gen 1 and Gen 2 versions and give up to 100W, supporting SuperSpeed communication of up to 5Gb/s for Gen 1 and 10Gb/s for Gen 2. The devices are tailored for emerging product designs and particularly suited for very thin platforms. Suitable applications include portable power banks, flash drives, consumer laptops, tablets, portable HDDs, wearable devices, automotive infotainment, and mobile phones. As well as a tiny footprint, the connectors have a reversible design that permits fast and simple connection regardless of which way they are inserted. In addition to the flexibility enabled by reversible plug and cable orientation, many options are available: top mount and mid mount, right angle dual SMT and hybrid style, long shell and short body (Gen 1). The design of these Type C USB connectors guards against both EMI and ESD.
