Tiny PSU meets latest medical and IT standards

XP Power has released a new GCU500 series; 500W AC/DC power supplies with class-leading features including a size of just 83.8mm x 165.1mm x 39.3mm. Fitting into 1U systems, these rugged products are perfect for high reliability but cost-sensitive industrial applications such as renewable energy and robotics. Dual fusing, low leakage current and input/output isolation of 2 x MOPPs support use in critical medical applications such as ventilators and medical carts in hospital environments. The products meet the latest ‘third edition’ of medical standard IEC 60601-1 including risk management. Unlike similar competing products, the series is rated for safety at high altitudes – 4000m for medical and 5000m for IT. Latest resonant conversion and synchronous rectification techniques produce a very high efficiency, up to 93%, offering low running cost, reduced operating temperature, prolonged lifetime and energy savings. The latest EMC standards are met for both industrial and medical applications, including the stringent class B level for conducted emissions to EN55011/32, and medical 4th edition.
