KEMET has expanded its automotive grade, and commercial high voltage C0G Ceramic Capacitors, now available through TTI Europe, as increasing use of wideband power semiconductors in power electronics applications pushes new inverter, and DC-DC converter designs forward with greater voltage, current, power density and frequency. These new capacitor ranges offer options for new generation power electronics used for alternative energy applications, while the automotive grade series meets the onerous Automotive Electronics Council's AEC-Q200 qualification requirements.
The company's patented high-reliability BME dielectric system is 100% Pb-free, RoHS compliant and REACH compliant without exemptions. The devices offer industry-leading CV values, high volumetric capacitance with low leakage current and high thermal stability. Low inductance and ESR versus frequency allow for very high ripple current capability. Available case sizes are 2824, 3040, 3640, and 4540 available to increase capacitance up to 150 nF with voltages up to 2,000V. A SnPb-plated termination finish option is available upon request (5% Pb min).
Applications for the ceramic capacitors include switch-mode power supplies, lighting ballasts, voltage multiplier circuits, high voltage coupling and DC blocking, DC-DC converters and coupling capacitors in Cuk converters.
