Latest encapsulated DC-DC converters offer excellent power conversion efficiency

Murata’s latest DC-DC converters created specifically for use in railway applications are now available through TTI Europe. With encapsulated circuitry for optimal thermal and vibration performance, the series delivers market-leading power efficiency in an industry-standard half or quarter brick pinout, enabling designers to select the most effective option for cooling and power delivery. There are two alternatives within the IR Series. The IRQ Series is a highly efficient, quarter brick 100W regulated DC-DC converter module offering high current output of up to 20A, delivering fixed DC output voltage up to 100W (24V @ 4.2A) and offers a broad range of inputs between 57.6VDC - 160VDC (110V nominal). Regulation is ±0.3% from no load to full load. These efficiencies are offered by the series’ diode-rectifier topology and fixed frequency operations. Protection points include output over voltage lockout protection, input under voltage lockout, output current limit, Vout overshoot, short circuit hiccup, current sharing and over temperature shutdown. Other options include a highest baseplate operating temperature of 100C at full load. The series meets all UL and IEC emissions, safety and flammability certifications and available choices include multiple pin lengths and a flanged baseplate.
