New power metal strip current sense resistor combines high power rating and low resistance

16-02-2018 | TTI Europe | Passives

Vishay Intertechnology has released a new surface-mount power metal strip current sense resistor which is available now from TTI Europe. The device combines a high power rating up to 6W, TCR down to ±70ppm/degree, and very low resistance values down to 0.0003Ohm in its 2512 case size. It offers a power density of 192W/in^2 allows designers to save board space in high-power circuits by utilising the smallest resistor possible. The devices low TCR provides stable and accurate current measurement across a wide temperature range. The low resistance values minimise power losses and improve end-product efficiency. The advanced construction incorporates a solid metal nickel-chrome, manganese-copper, or manganese-copper-tin alloy resistive element with low TCR (<20ppm/C). The proprietary processing technique of the device produces extremely low resistance values.
