ROHM has announced the availability of high-fidelity power supply ICs which are optimised for audio devices needing high-resolution playback. The BD372xx series is claimed to be the first audio power supply ICs to connect leading-edge analog and sound reproduction technologies. As well as integrating a newly-developed fast response error amp circuit and low-noise architecture, multiple parameters that were shown to influence audio quality in the development and manufacturing processes were optimised through real-world listening tests, ending in industry-leading performance in all key characteristics (noise level, voltage stability, and power supply symmetry) required by power supplies for audio equipment.
The company has developed these audio power supply ICs to excels in all three characteristics by combining proprietary power supply analog design technology that leverages power processes with audio quality expertise. The effect is a very clean power supply contrasted to conventional solutions, enabling it to be possible to achieve higher audio quality; including improved sound imaging (location and distance of sound source) and resolution (realism and depth).
