New desktop enclosures offer designers retro styling

Now available through JPR Electronics are two new ranges of desktop enclosures from Hammond Electronics. The retro styling provides manufacturers of high-end hi-fi equipment, broadcast, audio, set-top boxes, other consumer products, and industrial instrumentation, an alternative to standard cases in applications where look can be as important as function. The HWCAS is a complete walnut frame fitted with aluminium top and optional base panels. It is offered with either a black powder coat or natural finish. The 1444CWW and the 1441CWW families are made from aluminium or steel respectively and has walnut end panels to the shorter sides. The aluminium option has a natural finish; the steel comes with a black powder coat finish. The enclosures are available in two sizes, either 330mm x 254mm x 76mm or 432mm x 254mm x 76mm. The case corners are of dovetailed construction, strengthened with corner posts fitted with brass inserts to take the panel fixings. The 2mm thick top panel can support heavy components such as transformers without bowing. The units come in six sizes ranging from 178mm x 127mm x 51mm to 432mm x 254mm x 102mm. The rigid chassis is spot-welded for strength and rigidity and comes with an integral top panel, which hase no visible fixings to ruin the sleek appearance. Such products rarely have the volume production to justify a bespoke enclosure. The new Hammond retro styled enclosures offer an ideal solution for these low volume high quality designs.”
