New power shelf is compatible with open compute rack designs

Bel Power Solutions and Protection, a Bel group company and premier global manufacturer of power management devices, announces the SPSPFE3-07 power shelf, which offers rectification, system management and power distribution from HVDC mains (240/380VDC) power into a main output of 12VDC for powering intermediate bus architectures up to 15kW (5+1) in high performance routers, servers and network switches. Each shelf can be set up with up to 6X PFE3000-12-069RA or TET3000-12-069RA power supplies, which are hot swap and redundancy capable, and comprise two separate DC inputs (one inlet powers 3 power modules). Highlighting full digital controls for improved performance, cooling is controlled by a fan regulated by the DSP controller. The shelf is compatible with the Open Compute rack design. The shelf includes system communications via the I2C/PMBus protocol, providing for full monitoring of controls, supplies and programming. Multiple protections such as output overvoltage, overtemperature and output overcurrent are also standard. An always-on +12V 60W standby output is included, as well as a slot for an arbitrary network attached controller, which can be incorporated in the shelf or bought separately. The network attached controller gives monitoring and control functions through a 10/100MB base Ethernet port and can be attached directly to the data centre management network.
