Capturing time-critical data in the energy supply industry

Camille Bauer Metrawatt AG offers its highly-accurate measurement devices in the SINEAX AM, SINEAX DM5000, LINAX PQ and CENTRAX CU series with GPS modules. These pre-configured GPS modules synchronise the integrated time measurement of the devices using GPS signals, to ensure that every measurement value is recorded with the correct date and time. Timestamps are important when conducting sensitive energy measurements. Also, when problems happen, they can be quickly detected before it becomes too late. If the fault has occurred already, accurate data with an exact timestamp are crucial to efficiently pinpoint the causes. When there are specific network quality issues, with either IEC 61000-4-30 Ed.3 norms or non-standard network criteria accurate timestamps are crucial. They make it possible to provide the event monitoring software reliably with time-critical data. Also, standardised, IEEE 1159.3-compliant, PQDIF files can be retrieved, saved and read with absolute timestamps straight from the device using PQ-DIFFRACTOR or the SMARTCOLLECT data management software. Accurate timestamps are an essential component of automation applications; for example lighting controls, network load symmetrisation and monitoring of production resources such as transformers, motors, and more.
