Integrated optical modules offer complete photometric systems for smoke detection

19-09-2018 | Analog Devices | Test & Measurement

Analog Devices ADPD188BI Integrated Optical Modules provide a complete photometric systems for smoke detection utilising optical dual wavelength technology. The modules combine a highly efficient photometric front end, two LEDs, and two PDs. The modules are contained in a custom package to stop light from going from the LED to the photodiode without penetrating the smoke detection chamber. The front end of the ASIC comprises of a control block, a 14-bit ADC with a 20-bit burst accumulator, and three flexible, independently configurable LED drivers. The control circuitry incorporates flexible LED signalling and synchronous detection. The AFE highlights best-in-class rejection of signal offset and corruption due to modulated interference commonly created by ambient light. The data output and functional configuration occur over a 1.8V I2C interface or SPI port.
