The Rapid IoT prototyping kit from NXP Semiconductors is now available from Mouser. Enabling developers to swiftly take IoT projects from idea to proof of concept, the kit features industry-leading hardware, enhanced security, and optimal power management within a small form factor. The kit comes pre-configured with 11 NXP devices (including interface, NFC, microcontrollers, anti-counterfeit security and flexible sensor options) to promote the development of a wide range of IoT devices, which includes smart appliances, home and building automation, wearables, and medical devices.
The kit combines a high-performance, low power NXP Kinetis K64 microcontroller based on an Arm Cortex-M4 core, and an NXP Kinetis KW41Z wireless microcontroller that allows BLE, Thread, and Zigbee connectivity. The adaptable and modular device also comprises a capacitive touch sensor, three-axis digital gyroscope, six-axis digital accelerometer and magnetometer, digital ambient light sensor, digital pressure barometric and humidity sensor, and digital air quality sensor.
To ease the development process, the kit includes pre-programmed applications that allow users to quickly get familiar with its capabilities. The device features a web IDE with GUI-based programming to enable users to modify the device’s behaviour with no experience in embedded coding. When ready, engineers can simply transition ideas from prototype to development with automatic source code generation for the company’s MCUXpresso, a complete set of software tools including SDK, IDE and configuration tools.
The kit is compatible with the NXP IoT Modular Gateway, a comprehensive development platform that draws together the building blocks for secure, production-ready IoT systems which includes software, hardware, connectivity, security and cloud services with extensive and fully documented out-of-the-box guidance and support. The kit is also fully compatible with the MikroElektronika Hexiwear docking station and over 400 MikroElektronika Click boards to allow a broad range of functionality for almost any IoT use case.
