Texas Instruments DRV3245Q-Q1 Gate Driver Unit (GDU) is a FET gate driver IC for three-phase motor-drive applications created according to the specifications of ISO 26262 for functional safety applications.
The device offers three half-bridge drivers each able to drive a high-side and low-side N-channel MOSFET while also giving sophisticated protection and monitoring of the FETs. A charge-pump driver allows a 100% duty cycle and maintains low battery voltages during cold-crank operation. The integration of integrated phase comparators, current-sense amplifiers, and SPI-based configuration of the driver and its peripherals allow reduction of the BOM and space on the PCB because of the elimination of most external and passive components.
Typical applications include 12V automotive motor-control applications; electrical power steering (EPS, EHPS), electrical brake and brake assist, and transmissions and pumps.
