Analog Devices DC2464A-A and A-B Demo Boards for LTC3351 Chargers are created using a hot-swappable supercapacitor charger, backup controller, and system monitor. These demo boards control the inrush current when connected using dual input hot swap FETs. These FETs also help in disconnecting the input supply during input power loss or overcurrent fault.
The boards use an output ideal diode to enable the supercapacitors to supply the output when VCAP is above the set backup voltage. The charger will supply the output by operating as a boost regulator when the capacitor stack voltage falls down to the set output voltage. The charger will continue to act as a boost regulator until the energy in the supercapacitors is exhausted.
