Mid-range FPGAs deliver excellent performance for industrial IoT applications

Mouser is now stocking PolarFire FPGAs from Microsemi. The flash-based, mid-range devices deliver 300K logic elements at up to 50% lower power consumption than equivalent SRAM-based FPGAs. The devices offer best-in-class security, SEU-immune fabric, and SerDes performance for a variety of applications in the communications, defence, aviation, industrial automation, and IoT markets. The FPGAs provide cost-effective bandwidth processing capabilities for the increasing number of converged 10Gpbs ports with the lowest power footprint. The devices combine the non-volatile FPGA fabric, 12.7Gbps transceiver performance, 1.6Gbps differential I/Os, hardened security IP, and a cryptographic processor. The 28nm CMOS silicon features power optimisation combined with the lowest static power for mid-range density FPGAs, while the Flash*Freeze mode yields even lower standby power. The company also stocks the Microsemi PolarFire evaluation kit, devised to help engineers evaluate a broad class of applications such as high-speed transceiver evaluation, 10Gb Ethernet, IEEE1588, JESD204B, SyncE, and SATA. The kit connections include a high-pin-count FPGA mezzanine card (FMC), six SMAs, PCIe edge connector, Dual Gigabit Ethernet connectors, SFP+ cage, and USB-to-UART terminal.
