Lightweight and robust connector for wireless infrastructure in indoor and outdoor applications

Amphenol RF has introduced their new 2.2/5 connector series. This interface is a compact version of the earlier 4.3/10 connector series with a footprint that is 53% smaller. This connector is lightweight and can hold thick, low loss cables up to a half inch. The robust form makes these connectors perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. The series is intended the meet the requirements of applications which need low PIM to avoid interference in network quality through high-speed data transmission. These connectors allow flexibility in installation with the capability to blind mate and are IP-68 rated in the mated condition. This ability provides for prolonged exposure to the elements without compromising the performance. The connectors are precision machined with a brass body and a beryllium copper contact. They are perfect for wireless applications such as mobile networks, DAS, small cells, low power base stations and in-building architecture, and are critical to 5G communication technology.
