Texas Instruments ADS816x Precision SAR Analog-to-Digital Converters are 16-bit, eight-channel, high-precision successive approximation register ADCs operating from a single 5V supply.
These devices have a complete throughput of 1MSPS (ADS8168), 500kSPS (ADS8167) or 250kSPS (ADS8166). The input multiplexer supports extended settling time, enabling driving of the analog inputs easier. The output of the multiplexer and ADC analog inputs are offered as device pins. This configuration enables one ADC driver op amp to be employed for all eight analog inputs of the multiplexer. The device simplifies data processing with an enhanced channel sequencer that decreases software complexity.
Typical applications include optical line cards, data acquisition cards, test and measurement, patient monitoring, and PLC universal analog input module.
