Analog Devices LTC6561 four-channel Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) gives a 220MHz -3dB bandwidth with 2pF input capacitance. The device's high transimpedance, low noise, and low power dissipation are excellent for LiDAR receivers employing Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs). The amplifier is intended to recover from APD current surges in 12ns at 1mA, and it can manage up to 1A of APD current surge, maximising the LiDAR systems effectiveness.
The system is designed with two levels of multiplexing. Four inputs are multiplexed into a single output. A second output MUX provides multiple devices to be linked to address 8-channel, 12-channel, 16-channel or 32-channel applications. This provides smaller overall solutions and higher channel count in small space situations. It also removes the requirement for external multiplexers which reduces cost and size even further.
The device runs from a 5V supply and draws only 180mW for the four channels. The device is offered in a compact 4mm x 4mm 24-pin leadless QFN package, with an exposed pad for thermal management and low inductance.
