RS Components offers a new selection of PoE single-port midspan power injectors manufactured by Phihong, a specialist in PoE technology.
Produced to provide increased flexibility, PoE technology combines power and data over an Ethernet cable. By integrating power into a standard LAN infrastructure, the technology can allow highly scalable and flexible networking, facilitating the placement of powered network devices where they are required and not necessarily near a power source. PoE technology aims at an extensive series of applications and allows power to be supplied to devices such as security cameras, IP telephones, IP print servers and wireless LAN access points including Bluetooth- and WiMax-based access points.
Midspan power injectors produce further power capability and can be employed in combination with either a non-PoE switch or a PoE switch already in place in a network that is possibly operating at full capacity. Midspan solutions can cost considerably less than a new PoE-enabled switch, and come in single-port or multi-port options. Further to this new range of single-port power injectors, RS has a variety of multi-port midspan products in its offer.
Providing a broad selection of power ratings including 15.4W, 20W, 30W and 60W, the PoE midspan power injectors also feature compliance with either IEEE802.3AF, AT or BT, depending on the selected model; Gigabit Ethernet compatibility; universal input from 90VAC to 264VAC; and protection features including over current and over voltage.
