XP Power offers a new range of 20W DC-DC power modules with international approvals for medical and healthcare applications. The series is fit for all medical applications and especially meant for use where the DC-DC converter offers a reinforced (2 x MOPP) safety isolation barrier, including patient contact and patient vicinity applications.
Modules in the JHM20 series are certified by both UL and TUV and carry all international approvals as well as IEC60601-1, EN60601-1 and ANSI/AMMI ES60601-1 for medical safety. This certification, and with the CB report including risk management, enable designers to apply them for critical safety barriers with confidence while lessening the time and cost associated with the end equipment approval. Fit for direct patient contact, the modules have a maximum of just 2.5A of patient leakage current and provide 2 x MOPP at a 250VAC working voltage, ensuring patient and operator safety.
The series includes a total of 18 modules, providing 20W of power in a compact 50.8mm x 25.4mm PCB-mount footprint. The 2:1 input range gives flexibility with nominal input voltages of 12, 24 and 48VDC. Isolated, fully-floating, single and dual output versions are offered at 5, 12 and 15VDC, enabling the provision of single rails of 24 and 30VDC. All single outputs are easy to trim by 10% via a single external resistor.
The modules give excellent levels of efficiency and operate from -40C to +80C, producing full power at temperatures up to +60C enabling use in challenging applications. A broad range of protection mechanisms such as short circuit and overload are incorporated to protect both the power module and the system load. The case is constructed from a self-extinguishing UL94V-0 material.
