New Yorker Electronics now offers an advanced new rechargeable coin cell battery that provides what is claimed to be the world’s highest mAh capacity. Perfect for such electronic devices as security devices, smart watches, fitness bands, dash cams and memory backup, the Illinois Capacitor RJD Series battery is distinct in design from other lithium-ion coin-cell batteries. A new encapsulation technology increases storage capacity by using the entire space within the cell case.
As well as improved energy density per cell, the failure rate is higher than older designs. Encapsulation, unlike conventional stacking construction, has solved older manufacturing issues which can influence safety and reliability. As a result, the new batteries enable manufacturers to provide new levels of performance without product redesign.
With the improved performance levels, product run time can be improved by 20% or more versus a conventional lithium rechargeable coin cell battery. Alternatively, if product size is more crucial, performance levels can be sustained with a physically smaller cell.
Due to the internal encapsulation construction, these UL-Listed cells provide higher reliability and safety. The coin cells are offered in eight different capacity levels, leaded or with conventional flat terminals. Each is rated at 3.7VDC (4.2VDC to 3VDC). Operating temperature range is -20C to +60C.
High power density is a notable benefit in IoT wearable applications, including any type of portable product currently powered by rechargeable coin cell batteries. These comprise key fobs, memory backup, security devices and numerous consumer electronics products.
