Vishay Intertechnology offers a new series of VDR metal oxide varistors (MOV) certified for operation up to +125C in accordance with UL 1449 edition 4, VDE/IEC 61051-1/2. Created to give overvoltage and transient voltage protection in industrial and consumer goods applications, the Vishay BCcomponents VDRUS series provides 30% higher surge current ability than previous-generation devices.

Supplied in standard 7mm, 10mm, 14mm, and 20mm sizes, the devices are created with a high purity zinc oxide disc with two solid copper leads or copper-clad steel wires and matte tin plating. The varistors' high-temperature performance is due to their UL94-V0-approved, flame-resistant silicone lacquer coating, which gives mechanical, electrical, and climate protection.

The series is provided with current surge ability from 1.8kA to 13kA, rated voltages from 115VAC to 680VAC, energy absorption from 19J to 720J, and straight or kinked leads. The varistors are optimised for usage in power controllers and input filters for appliances such as stoves, washing machines and industrial applications as well as motor controllers, AC/DC converters, and circuit breakers.

RoHS-compliant and halogen-free, the devices are fit for automatic pick and place mounting and compatible with wave soldering and pin in paste reflow soldering processes.
