RS Components has introduced the new TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE range of stainless steel D-subminiature connectors, which merge enhanced salt spray resistance with RoHS compliance, without the use of toxic cadmium plating.

Created to meet the performance demands of MIL-DTL-24308, the connectors are fitting for employment by electronic and industrial design engineers working on defence and aerospace projects such as weapons systems, launch systems and defence ground vehicles, as well as other marine and harsh-environment applications. Designers are moving away from cadmium-based defence connectors to comply with environmental regulations.

Each D-sub comes in a rugged, environmentally-friendly passivated stainless-steel housing that offers up to 500-hour protection against salt spray. The company's range of standard-density 20AWG or high-density 22AWG crimp contacts is utilised, at 2.29mm or 2.77mm pitch.

The range includes both plugs and receptacles with from nine to 104 positions, in shell sizes from one to six. Panel mount, cable mount, magnetic and non-magnetic versions are available. The maximum contact current rating is 5A or 7.5A, and the operating temperature range is from –55C to 125C.
