SOURIAU has announced it has added bigger sizes to its JMX Plastic range to satisfy an inrush of new electronic medical equipment that needs a higher contact density to be powered. Further to providing advanced technical features and compliance with IEC 60601-1 and UL94 V-0, these connectors have been meticulously produced to satisfy the aesthetic and functional demands of medical device manufacturers.

The company has extensive experience in push-pull locking connectors due to its metal, JDX and JBX series adapted for industrial applications. The new family of connectors has an IP rating of IP68, and withstands 2,000 mating cycles and resists steam autoclave sterilisation according to IEC 60601-1 (up to 200 ergonomic cycles). The range features 24 arrangements and up to 19 signal contacts. Also, a mix of signal and power contacts in an identical arrangement is now possible. The connectors are intended for usage on all medical devices that come into contact with patients—diagnosis and monitoring equipment, mammography equipment, scanning equipment, and vascular testing equipment. They can also be employed on catheters during surgery, through chromatographic analysis in laboratories and in physiotherapy, on laser generators, and liposuction devices.

The connectors guarantee safe connection and disconnection to and from equipment by healthcare workers with just one hand. When pushed in, an audible click confirms that they are securely mated. To disconnect, simply push and pull on the plug. The nine colour-coding rings offered stop mismatching of plugs and receptacles.
