The Analog Devices ADF5610 is a wideband synthesiser with an integrated VCO. The device provides outstanding performance and flexibility and is excellent for diverse market applications including aerospace and defence, microwave point-to-point links, wireless infrastructure, electronic test and measurement, and satellite terminals.
The device is a wideband fractional-N synthesiser which generates RF outputs from 57MHz to 14.6GHz and with very low phase noise performance. In comparison to solutions that need multiple narrowband GaAs voltage-controlled oscillators and PLLs, the device provides 50% less power dissipation, smaller footprint, and simpler architecture, that translates into BOM cost savings and decreased time to market.
Developed on the company's proprietary advanced SiGe BiCMOS process, the device facilitates low bit error rates. The integrated PLL function gives fast frequency hopping and lock times (less than 50μs when configured correctly, including an appropriate loop filter).
The device is fully supported by the ADIsimPLL, the company's comprehensive and easy-to-use PLL synthesiser design and simulation tool for assessing lock time, phase noise, jitter and other design considerations. The device is also customer programmable through the use of integrated SPI interface and control software.
