Diodes Incorporated has released the PI3EQX12904A PCIe 3.0/SATA3 combo ReDriver with linear equalisation, supporting speeds up to 8Gbps. The device offers laptop, industrial PC, notebook, and embedded system developers a robust, multiprotocol linear ReDriver that provides a flexible interface while also satisfying current and standby power demands.

As SSDs continue to replace HDDs in notebooks, industrial PCs, laptops, and embedded systems, there is a growing need for interface devices that can drive extended PCB track lengths with no degradation of the signal. By complying with both PCIe and SATA protocols, the device presents manufacturers with a single solution that can be employed in multiple products.

Designers must address the possible performance issues inherent with driving control and data signals over a switch fabric, PCB tracks, cables or other connections. While may redrivers can give the extra drive needed to accomplish this, the device also adds programmable equalisation, linear swing, and flat gain capability to give optimal performance when employing various physical mediums.

The device supports PCIe 3.0 and SATA3 protocols over serial links running at 8Gbps (PCIe 3.0) and 6Gbps (SATA3). It features four 100Ohm differential CML data I/O signals and is transparent to link training. Its adaptive power management features incorporate automatic low-power mode with automatic receiver detection. In slumber mode, the inputs are monitored for any activity, and if detected, the corresponding channel automatically switches to active mode.
