Digital barometric pressure sensor provides stable and reliable measurements

This MEMS-based barometric pressure sensor from Omron, and available now from TTI Europe, has been specifically created to support height and pressure measurement in smartphones, drones, pedometers and other battery-powered mobile systems. The 2SMPB-02E sensor offers stable and reliable height and pressure measurements, providing changes in elevation of as small as 2m to be reliably recorded.

This sensor has been particularly remodelled for mobile applications and is smaller at just 2mm x 2.5mm x 0.85mm in size. An integrated temperature compensation circuit assists in ensuring accurate absolute pressure measurements. The device is also configured to measure the pressure of air between 30kPa and 110kPa. The sensor has a pin layout that is compatible with alternative solutions on the market, simplifying integration.

Typical applications include indoor navigation (floor detection), car navigation, altimeters, activity monitors, life logs, and weather forecasts.
