Magnetic connectors are easily mated with no need for pre-alignment

This magnetic connector series from Amphenol features this Circular Connector Receptacle, Shell Size 3. The devices are available now from RS Components. The series offers low profile, compact, sealed connectors that can withstand exposure to dust, dirt, rain and chemicals. The connectors are designed for First Responders, Security and defence personnel.

The connector features a magnetic, non-keyed mating system which enables the connector to be easily mated with no need for pre-alignment and removes the requirement to operate any coupling mechanisms.

The low profile connector sits flat against the body to prevent snagging and damage. It is self-aligning due to the strong magnetic connection, and enables customisation and flexibility of cable routing as the cable can be rotated by 360 degrees when the connector is mated.

The series features a wipe-clean interface featuring sprung-loaded contacts and provides over 5000 mating cycles. The series is compatible with USB 2.0, Ethernet and audio signal requirements.

The series aids blind-mate performance and prevents inadvertent damage if the user forgets to unmate. The connectors do not require pre-alignment when mating. The cable exit angle is infinitely variable and can be set and adjusted by the user. The series allows interconnection of various equipment including computers, radios and headsets.
