This Texas Instruments PMP30693 reference design automatically offers a back-up voltage through a power interruption. It handles the charging of supercapacitors and offers reverse blocking protection. The maximum supercapacitor charging current and voltage is able to be adjusted. When the input voltage fails a buck-boost converter (TPS63802) takes over and produces a constant backup voltage. The supercapacitor capacitance and voltage determine the energy that is accessible for the backup. The device offers a stable backup output of 3.7V at 300mA for more than 100s until the output voltage drops.
The device provides a seamless transition between mains power and back-up operation, offering active cell balancing and adjustable input current limit. The device provides a complete tested design with available design files and test report.
