Stewart Connector, a Bel group company, has launched its Category 8.1 cable assemblies (patch cords) that support 25Gbps and 40Gbps Ethernet transmission speeds over balanced twisted-pair copper cabling. They are created to satisfy Category 8.1 performance standards as defined by ISO/IEC 11801-1:2017 and ANSI/TIA-568.2-D.
The company’s Category 8.1 cable assemblies are created to run high speeds over copper cabling while providing industry-standard form factor RJ45 connectors on each end. The enhanced design stays reward compatible with industry-standard RJ45 jacks but provides what is claimed to be the highest performance currently available. These cable assemblies are a cost-effective solution for data centres looking to upgrade their data transmission speeds without switching over to a more expensive fibre optic solution. The cable assemblies provide aluminium PETP foil around each twisted pair to minimise internal crosstalk. This design feature is excellent for high noise environments, including medical applications, defence applications, and data centre switch-to-server interconnections.
