The new HS/HSL Hybrid Supercapacitors from Eaton, available now from Rutronik UK, offer a power density that is up to three times higher than lithium-ion batteries. They provide an energy density up to eight times higher than traditional EDLCs in a 3.8V hybrid cell.
At operating temperatures of down to -25C (HSL) and up to +85C (HS), the hybrid supercapacitors work without any problems. While HSL supercapacitors are optimised for lower temperatures down to -25C, HS supercapacitors offer an extended range up to +85C and are optimised for higher temperatures.
Due to their low self-discharge, they act as stand-alone energy storage devices or are employed in addition to battery systems to optimise system costs, service life and runtimes. This makes them especially fitting for emergency power supplies in server rooms or in medical environments, smart metering, IoT energy storage, tracking of commercial vehicles/containers, and impulse and hybrid power supply systems.
