GCT has released two USB A connectors offering extended mating cycles and enhanced current rating over standard products. The USB1130 and USB1135 are the recent additions to the USB range and are excellent for fast charging and high traffic applications.
The USB1130 is a USB-A 2.0 connector tested to 10,000 mating cycles, and the USB1135 is a 3.0 version with 20,000 cycles tested. This is accomplished due to enhanced retention forces due to a stainless-steel construction employed for the shell of the connector. This makes the USB1130 more than six times more durable than standard USB A 2.0, and the USB1135 double that on standard USB A 3.0.
As well as the increased mating cycle specification, both connectors are 3A rated, double that of similar products, providing designs with the option of quick charge functionality. The connectors are offered in top mount, through-hole configuration, with two kinked shell stakes for PCB retention while processing.
“There is demand for higher performance USB A connectors, and this has helped the development of the USB1130 and USB1135,” comments Andrew Stewart, GCT sales director. “USB A connectors are synonymous with charging, and many devices that have constant mating requirements will be able to benefit from higher mating cycles these connectors offer.”
